The materials
The steel
Designed to be light and attractive, the steelwork is manufactured to BS5950, the British Standard for the design, fabrication and erection of structural steelwork.
Exposed internally and finished in brilliant white, with zinc plated fasteners, an internal cladding option is also available to cover the steel work. The use of steel enables large spans to be created without heavy beams or supporting columns to give a modern, sleek, contemporary open interior.
The cladding
The walls and roof are manufactured from insulated panels. These are formed from rigid insulation with a steel/alloy cladding. There are four texture finishes available and a wide choice of external colours. The steel has a 30 year anti-
corrosion guarantee (25 years for coastal regions). The cladding is firesafe™, which means it is totally non-combustible. This has the added advantage that a PODHAUS can be placed on a boundary, whereas timber garden rooms over 15m Sq have to be placed 1m away from the boundary. This way, a PODHAUS can optimise your available space.
The flooring
PODHAUS uses a tough durable laminate flooring or aluminium chequer plate. The laminate is available in shades from light birch to dark oak. All timber is F.S.C. approved, which means it is sourced from independently certified, well managed forests.
The doors
The sliding folding doors run virtually the length of the building, and are of the highest quality. Their durability and solid manufacture allow them to effortlessly glide. Available in almost any colour they can be manufactured to slide from left to right or right to left, and opening in or out. For the ultimate in safety the PODHAUS is fitted with 4mm 16 4 toughened K glass sealed units as standard and multi-locking doors for high security. The doors are supplied from a FENSA registered company.
Electrics, lighting and heating
The standard electric package includes four double plug sockets in two different locations, and a set of 4 remote control plug sockets for side lights. These have the advantage that the lights can be switched on from your house or whilst approaching your PODHAUS and can be switched off after you have left the PODHAUS lighting your way back to your house. Heating is supplied through an ergonomically designed free standing 2Kw electric radiator with time, remote control and for ease of use and economy.
